Having read both of Jessica Goodman’s books, I have to say that I definitely enjoyed They’ll Never Catch Us more than her debut book, They Wish They We’re Us. This one kept me guessing, the reveal over what happened didn’t feel like it came out of left field, and it also felt like more of a believable book premise overall.

I kept thinking the whole time that I was reading that Stella was an unreliable narrator, even as I was rooting for her to be innocent in the disappearance of Mila. Goodman did a great job with having me question and sympathize with her at the same time. Without spoiling anything, Stella has a great arc throughout this book.

The ending left me questioning a lot of things. So much was revealed in the last 15% of the book that I wish had more answers to it, like what happened after the runner’s essay and what did fate deal to Noah. I wish there was more closure on those things for me to feel like it was a more complete ending.
