"The world breaks little girls. It stomps out our will, out joy, our curiosity--and replaces them with disdain, cynicism, and the need to fit into neat and tiny boxes."

I feel like I liked They'll Never Catch Us more than I did with her debut book. I think it had a lot of good things in it. I was honestly expecting your typical YA mystery novel but at times it didnt seem like it was solely focusing on the mystery which I was completely okay with. Some other things this story touched on was feminism, realistic/believable characters, and the struggles of being in a small town. Which I could relate to and understand how the main characters felt about the subject. It was represented perfectly well. Very close nit but not perfect. I also want to add that the teen angst isn't over the top like it is most novels. There was some series topics talked about in this story and I feel like the topics wasn't handled in a bad way. Some of the things was predictable with the plot but that twist at the end I did not see coming at all. The plot moves pretty fast and I really liked that. So it is a pretty quick read. Some of the characters were not likable at all but that just adds to the story. This was a fun fast paced thriller that touched on many different themes that are important and it surprised me in a good way.
