First and foremost, I did not connect with the main characters voice immediately (from the first sentence) which let me know I was not going to like it.
It is good to see a Black kid who is into anime/nerdy stuff in a suburban school with a multicultural friend group.
It is interesting that there is a separation with the AP/gifted & talented smart kids and the nerdy kids because they usually intersect.
I do not know if there is going to be a conversation later with the weird racial undertone/dynamics with Karla and Cameron but there should be maybe.
Does the writing feel like it telegraphs stuff instead of showing? Do we get a chance to infer or feel when things happen? Everything feels so quick instead of giving time for things to flow.
