Unfortunately underwhelming
This YA horror novel follows 2 friends who enter the woods for a hike, but things go awry. I went in mostly blind and enjoyed guessing what dangers the girls would be dealing with: Something supernatural? An animal attack? A killer?
I wish I could say this was a slow burn but nope. Nothing happens for around 100 pages except for the characters arguing. The world-building was more dull than spectacular; I couldn't visualise the woods or trails at all.
I spent most of the book wondering how two people could be so ill-equipped while hiking in the woods and wanting to facepalm at all their decisions:
🤦🏻♀️ Wearing jeans
🤦🏻♀️ Wearing shoes that haven't been broken in
🤦🏻♀️ Not refilling their water every chance that get
🤦🏻♀️ Packing unnecessary items that add weight to their baggage
Overall ,this book left me disappointed even though there were some pretty solid horror scenes.
