My biggest criticism of this book would probably be its length..I feel like the pacing of the book could have gone better if it had a little more time. It's...really short! So when we get to the exciting part...it just sort of ends (at least, that is how it felt for me). So I wasn't able to like...get really caught up in the moment, which I like it, especially in a thriller book :) Some parts were drawn out (like the first 50-100 pages) and then the last 1/2 of the book felt rushed.

Likes: two teens deciding that they wanted to go on a long hike as a last hurrah before college was a set-up that was really believable. I can totally imagine doing something like this with my friends (definitely having second thoughts about that now though). I would be guilty of being just like Josie and Neena-- disconnected from the natural world and totally oblivious to the ardousness of the task I'd put on my plate. Since I can relate to them so much, I was cringing a lot during my read. How many times have I just dove into something I knew nothing about? And oh-my-gosh, WHAT IF THIS HAPPENED TO ME?

It's also a good environment to stage a creepy book because so many things can go wrong! (And they do). You know, I'd be interested in seeing this turned into a movie and seeing what they add to it.
