I've never read anything from this author, but the summary caught my attention. Sadly, it fell flat for me.

I really enjoyed the creepy cover. The book started off quite slow. It did pick up a bit for the latter half of the book. However, it was a bit too little, too late to totally recover things for me. This is quite a short read for this genre, which left little room for the appropriate development of characters and storyline.

Some parts, particularly in the beginning, felt a bit juvenile and unbelievable. I didn't find it scary at all.
The writing style didn't work for me. The story is told in the third person, which is not what I'm used to reading in this genre. It makes it a bit harder to truly feel connected to the characters and plot. I did enjoy hearing the story from various POVs, but the characters themselves were quite unlikeable for the majority of the book.

Overall, this book didn't work for me, though there may be an audience for it somewhere.
