I had extremely high hopes for this book. Two friends go on a hiking trip before one of them goes off to college. Why two people would decide to do this by themselves without someone experienced to guide them, is beyond me. It was a hard book to get into. The first half of the book they just argued about everything. The last half did pick up and was definitely a lot more interesting. After Josie falls into a trap set by two men who prey on hikers and campers, the girls finally stop the arguing and the book picks up. When Neena leaves to get help, each girl encounters one of the men. The men first act like they are offering help, but then their real intentions become clear to the girls. I did like how the girls characters went from being helpless to finding their inner strength. If I was not afraid of what could be in the woods before, I definitely am now.
