The Woods Are Always Watching by Stephanie Perkins was a pretty good young adult thriller/horror/mystery novel. I liked that this novel focuses on friendships and does not have any romance in it, something that is rare in young adult fiction or any fiction.
It was not my favorite young adult thriller but I enjoyed it. I liked Perkins's change in genre and feel that they are growing as an author. I cannot wait to check out more from this author in the future and see what genre they tackle next.
The twists and turns of the novel were pretty good but as a reader of adult thrillers, it is hard to compete with those novels. It started off slow but picked up as the horror/thriller went on. I recommend checking out this one and Perkin's previous thriller novel, they were both good reads.
