If you think Dean Koontz writes typical horror books, as I used to think, well think again. This book, and the whole Jane Hawk series, are classic thrillers. Add in some science, technology, true villains...you get the picture. This book moves quickly following Jane as she continues to explore why her husband was made to commit suicide. Sadly for Jane, but luckily for the reader, finding out who is responsible isn't as simple as you might think.

I love that Koontz writes a strong female lead. Jane has her flaws but they are far outweighed by her assets. We see her being brutal when necessary yet a woman still in love with her husband and the life they lost together. This quick paced book is full of action and twists while Jane struggles to get answers for her dead husband and protect the small piece of him that remains hidden from evil, their son.

As long as Jane Hawk is in this classic good verses evil, I'm in!
