I've read Koontz's books in the past, so I was happy to check out this one, as I haven't read any in a few years. I didn't realize that this was part of a series, and I didn't read the prior book. I'm not sure if it would've been more enjoyable if I'd read them in order, but Koontz did seem to refresh the reader on key points.

I liked that the story was told from multiple POVs. It made me feel more engaged with the characters. I found that I connected with some of the secondary characters a bit more than I did with Jane, however. While there was a lot of suspense, the pacing didn't seem to stay consistent. Koontz writes great characters and scenes, so I did enjoy the book, but not as much as some of his past books.
