I have never read anything by Dan Koontz but now I understand the excitement over his novels. This premise alone grabbed my attention. The writing style is amazing. A well described picture is painted right before me as I read this excerpt. This is how a good book should be written but that does not often happen. I was sucked in immediately and will now be checking out Dean Koontz' other books. The writing is very good. The word choice is perfect. I was mainly drawn in by the mystery of it all. I am curious about all the characters and the reasons behind the excerpt's plot points as well the rest of the story. I also think the ratio of conversation and description is good. There is such a thing as too little or too much with that ratio.
