From the opening chapter I am left intrigued and can't wait to figure out who this mysterious stranger is to Cora. I think she is definitely being mind controlled, but by whom, or what?

Nanotechnology? Nanotechnology as a means of mind control to be used as population control? To manipulate people into suicide? To control who lives and who dies based on what they believe, teach, say and whether or not they like you? Fascinating!
How do these two women and their stories fit together? I can't wait to find out.
My guess is Cora is being nano-mind controlled because she is a teacher and must be teaching something the powers that be do not agree with. I can't wait to read more and hope I get picked!!
