This reminds me of RL Stine books I used to read as a kid except with a plot setting more interesting for adults. The chapters are very short just like those books. Basically a chapter for every shift in scene. This is a book I would pick up at an airport stand for entertainment so I don't suffer from screen fatigue. Sentence structure is very simple and short and I don't feel quite immersed into the plot as I feel I should be.
