I finished this book in one sitting. I didn’t even put it down while I ate dinner. It was engrossing from the start. Tom and his young son need a fresh start so they move to a small town. A small town with a dark past. Almost immediately upon moving into their new house strange things start happening. A stranger comes to the house, eager to check out the garage. Tom’s son talks to himself and even starts hearing someone whispering to him at night.

Parallel to the story of Tom and his son is the story of a weathered senior police officer who’s is trying to solve the murder of a little boy. A little boy the same age as Tom’s son. There are spooky similarities to another case from 30 years before and hints at what solving that case has done to this officer.

The action is absolutely fast paced and I was completely drawn in by the characters and the ways that their stories are interwoven.
