It takes a LOT to scare me. I'm a 'read alone with the lights turned low' kinda thriller reader. A 'get the house as dark as possible and make sure no-one's home' kind of scary movie watcher. I LOVE being scared. While this one didn't "scare" me as I had hoped - it sure did give me ALL the delicious creeps with the whispers and the footsteps and the disturbing images of fingers lurking at my mail slot.

And being totally disturbed and creeped out is almost just as good as being frightfully scared. Amiright?! I love stories about serial killers, their motives and twisted desires. The unsettling series of events that haunt this methodical and systematic killer dubbed "The Whisper Man" had me turning pages for feverish answers to a cold and calculating story that follows a man and his son, as they become entangled in a decades long case of missing children, perplexed detectives, and of course... whispers.

Read this one for menacing and ominous narrative. For a haunting and perplexing murder case, that's equal parts vile and unsettling. And definitely read it for that very last scene.
