This story is right up my alley. It follows my usual preferences for books. It is a mystery/thriller novel that tells a story from multiple perspectives. It also has crime events, which tend to interest me. One thing that really got my attention from the start is that this story opens with a passage written from the killer’s perspective. I love it when books do this, and I feel ir adds a whole other element to the story. It serves to make the villain more menacing, and give insight into their motivations.

I think the thing that struck me most about this particular story is the characters themselves. The story wasn’t moving incredibly fast, but I didn’t mind this. I really felt like I was getting to know the characters and their backgrounds. At the heart of the story is the relationship between a father and son, and the grieving process. I thoroughly enjoyed this opening to the novel.
