If you enjoy a good creepy crime thriller this ones for you. Not for the faint of heart as the plot involves a serial killer and child abductions.

I was hooked on this fabulously creepy debut by North from the opening letter all they way to the end. I can’t wait to read more from North!

The story dips between present & past time lines through multiple characters.

Tom & his young son Jake move to a creepy old house in a new town to start fresh after the death of his wife. Jake is haunted and I’d say traumatized over the death of his mother. He’s a cute kid who’s been through a lot but he also gives that creepy kid vibes that freaks you out as your reading. He’s a character that had me quickly turning the pages wanting to know more about him.

This new town has a creepy past that involves several child abductions & a serial killer Frank Carter AKA The Whisper Man is currently serving time in jail, the police are still looking for more of his missing victims. Now kids are once again disappearing and people are reporting hearing whispers outside their windows.

Detective Pete Willis a recovering alcoholic is determined to find all of Carter’s victims. Detective Amanda Beck is in charge of the latest child abductions. Both detectives are working to connect and solve these cases.

My favorite aspect of Alex North writing is how he brilliantly had me creeped out while reading. I found myself literally at the edge of my seat tearing through the pages of this one. I also enjoyed the complicated relationships between father and son that plays an interesting role throughout the book. If this one gets turned into a movie I’m so going to watch it!
