This book is about how a man tells the story about his hometown, Featherbanks, and how a kidnapper known as the "Whisper Man" used to go to children's windows and lure them outside so that he can kidnap them. It was said that the man was already found and captured but the main character and his son experienced similar circumstances, making people believe that the "Whisper Man" had an accomplice.

I really liked how the author starts out his book by writing a letter to the main character's son, Jake, before he actually starts writing Chapter 1 of the story. This gives a brief detail of how Jake's father is like and draws readers into his writing because it shows readers that this character is very relatable. This introduction is also interesting and hooks the readers to continue because at the end of his letter, Jake's father said that "he's sorry" for lying that "monsters do not exist". This simple statement makes me interested to learn more about this character and why he said this to his son.

The first chapter also hooked me on instantly because it begins the chapter by showing us the antagonist of the story. It gives detailed description about how the antagonist acts and how he feels as he kidnaps these young kids.

All in all, I am really looking forward to continuing reading this whole book and I can't wait to see how it will end!
