This blurb of the rhyme, from the book jacket, got me hooked. I wanted to read this book closer to Halloween since it's is a thriller and it was giving me spooky vibes. And I wasn't disappointed. It has a strong start, slows down it's pace in the middle, then picks up again but slows down again at the end. It didn't have all that unpredictable of a "twist" if you can call it that, because it builds up to it with major hints from very early on, but it was still worthwhile to read.
I read this before The Shadows and I know most people like this one better, but I like The Shadows better. The only connection between the two books is that the female detective is the same, but they even take place in different towns.
