Wow! What an amazing and fascinating debut! I did not find this story scary but on a creepiness level it’s off the charts! Tom and his son Jake move away to another town to get a fresh start after the death of Tom’s wife. The town has an ugly past. Frank Carter abducted and murder 5 children. He was apprehended, jailed, and nicknamed The Whisper Man”. Pete, and older detective, has a past that haunts him as he was on the case 20 years ago when the children went missing. Now another child is missing bringing the past back up to the present. Tom’s son hears whispers at his window, an imaginary friend appears to little Jake, more whispers, and a few twists that surprised me. Told from several POV this crime/thriller/mystery is outrageously good. Plus that ending,...l
