This book is a very creepy and atmospheric read. I was sucked into this story from the very beginning and loved that it had multiple POV’s. I definitely think having two detectives and then the father, son, and whisper man all as POV’s really added to this book helped to move the plot forward in an interesting way.
I will say that I feel not all of the reveals/ plot twists were necessary. Some of them felt a little forced. The big reveal of who the Whisper man was fell flat for me as I had already guessed about halfway through the novel. I did however really enjoy the almost supernatural aspects/ magical realism that took place with Jake’s imaginary friend and how reveals were made through his interactions with his friend.
Overall I enjoyed this work and will definitely pick up more from this author in the future.
