This book had quite a bit of hype and I was ready to read this thriller and be truly scared. It was ok, not nearly as scary as I thought. I felt it was more police procedural drama than edge of my seat thrill ride. I enjoyed the main character and his son and I thought the book was well written.

I think I just wished for more. I wished for more scares, more thrills, more enjoyable moments. The sweet little boy was the creepiest part of the novel and that was unexpected. There was no huge twist except for a family revelation but otherwise it was just an expected plot. It was a good book and I am glad I read it but I probably wouldn't recommend to serious thriller lovers or readers who enjoy scary books. It just didn't hit all those points.
