While the story was somewhat predictable from start to finish - and no, I won't ruin the hook for you with a whodunit spoiler here - I found the packet of things twist to drive the conclusion home interesting. It's the one slight piece that I did not immediately pick up on as I was reading through. From start to finish, Jake's father, mother and even his grandfather are central to the development of the story. Without each of them, Jake would not be who he is and the story would not have ended as it does. Applause for North and his beautiful writing.
