Tom is looking for a fresh start with his young son, Jake after their wife and mother recently passed away unexpectedly. He looks for the start in Featherbank, a small town that seems fairly normal. Jake finds a house there that calls to him, and he urges his Dad to buy. While the house has some oddities about it, Tom looks past these as charm and quirkiness, and is content that Jake seems to happy with their new place.

Twenty years prior; a murder spree crushed the small town of Featherbank, as little boys went missing from their beds, and little to no clues were left. Except from children who had escaped the murderer; claiming a man was whispering to them through their window at night. The killer is eventually caught (not a spoiler 🙈) and sits in prison; refusing to talk with anyone but the lead detective on the case; Pete.

But then... another little boy goes missing in a similar manner. Unable to understand how The Whisper Man could be back at it, when he’s already in prison, Detective Pete works to help the lead investigator piece together the similarities.

This was a very thrilling and suspenseful novel; that definitely gave me the creepiest vibes, in the best way possible. There are so many elements to this story that really help the scare factor; but mostly because it felt very real. The characters were well developed and raw. I found myself not being able to put this one down as I just had to know how the next piece of the story would unfold. A fantastic debut novel by Alex North.
If you are looking for a thriller that will give you a bit of a chill, this is it! I’ve also seen that The Russo brothers acquired the film rights to this one, which I’m sure will be a thrilling yet amazing film!
