If you like serial killers, murder mysteries, police procedural, and dynamic characters then this book is for you! Twenty years ago, The Whipser Man was a serial killer who whispered outside the bedroom windows of children, luring them outside he could kidnap and kill them. Just as Tom and Jake are about to settle into their new home for a fresh start, a young boy in the neighborhood vanishes. His disappearance resembles the crimes of The Whisper Man, reigniting old rumors that he might’ve had an accomplice.

Told by multiple POV’s was a good choice for this, it definitely grounded the mystery more. There are a few twists that I predicted and some I didn’t! Unfortunately, the ending just didn’t do it for me - it was too simple/basic for such a large buildup. Somehow Alex found a way to involve heavy themes within the plot - father/son dynamic, domestic violence, and grief (give it a chance if you can handle these triggers). I did not find this one terribly creepy at all, maybe a hint of supernatural but not in a negative way (not to spoil it).

Overall, a good read! I can see why Hollywood picked this up for a movie adaptation. I think Tom should be Michael Fassbender or Clive Owen. Nothing like having a creepy childhood rhyme stuck in your head as your reading this at night, right? “If you leave a door half-open, soon you’ll hear the whispers spoken..”
