“Bad thoughts find empty heads.” The Whisper Man is one of the best books I’ve read in a long while. With shades of Stephen King, Thomas Harris and some truly terrifying moments, there was more than one occasion when I had to put it down. Creepy is the name of the game here, and making up for lost time, responding to regrets and moving on in the face of tremendous grief. Someone's whispering at the door, with fingers reaching through the mail slot...eeek!! And yet, it was also sad and funny and SO relatable. Some coincidences? Sure, but it didn’t matter to me, I was so invested. “...but grief is a stew with a thousand ingredients, and not all of them are palatable.” Everyone here is haunted...”all their hopes and dreams, and look what I’ve gone and done.”
