The Shadows was my first read by Alex North and I will always buy his books, no matter the description. I picked this book up and did not put it down for 24 hours. I blew through the pages not only because the suspense had my gripped from the start, but also because the relationship between father and son, and the pain of their loss was felt at the depth of my soul.
I could not predict what was going to happen in this story and was terrified to go to sleep at night because of Alex North’s story telling. I felt like I was right there with the characters the entire time, feeling their heartbreak and terror right along side them. There aren’t many books I’ve been able to finish in one sitting, but this one made it to that list.
I felt so strongly for each character, and felt myself praying as I neared the end of the book that the ending would provide all I needed and wanted for them - but I won’t spoil that for new readers.
