In this dark, suspenseful thriller, Alex North weaves a multi-generational tale of father and son caught in the crosshairs of an investigation to catch a serial killer preying on a small town.

Do you ever read that book that you think will completely spook you, but for some reason it just misses the mark? That was this book for me. I know I am very much going against the grain on this one and that this book has high reviews, but it just didn’t do it for me.

I was completely afraid in the first few chapters, but I found myself struggling to continue. It was a good book. A solid story. Solid characters. I just wasn’t super interested in figuring it out. I wasn’t super interested in finding out who was the Whisper Man.

Although I didn’t predict the ending, I found myself not being surprised by it. I usually gauge my book love in gasps (am I the only one?!) and I think I gasped once. I will say- the very last chapter left me jaw-dropped, but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it based on that. I don’t think the book was bad, but it just wasn’t great for me.
