I loved the premise of this book, but the follow through was weak, for me.

I like that monsters, serial killers, and ghosts are the backdrop of the story, and that father-son relationships are in the forefront.

The absolute creepiness of what happens with Jake one night was what kept me going, but it was one night... one creepy moment. Why didn’t North keep that vibe going instead of trading whispers for outright attacks?? I kept waiting for more of the creep factor, but it just wasn’t there. It changed from a scary story to a detective story pretty quickly - and that was when I lost interest. The idea behind this was brilliant. The execution? Not quite so.

I liked it, but didn’t love it. 😕
