The Whisper Man pulls none of its punches from the very first page. In four quickly moving chapters, we are introduced to the villain via their inner monologue, see the moments leading up to a child abduction, experience parts of the unfruitful search, witness one of the most frightening conversations with an imaginary friend from the perspective of a child and their parent, and raise the specter of a serial killer. This is definitely a book I want to read with the lights on and the sun shining!
