This is a fun one, and you've seen it hyped for a reason. A heroine who's the mayor's chief of staff? Yes. Who's a Black woman and her race isn't just brushed aside? Yes. Who has more than one friend? Yes!

Big thanks to my girl Katie for the low steam warning prior to my reading - I think I might've been disappointed otherwise. Foreplay is sometimes explained, but it's definitely not as detailed as in other books I've read, and then, boom, scene! The end, the sex was great, everyone's happy. Which I was fine with - not every book needs to be five flames on the steamometer. Mostly I appreciated the focus on condoms! Thank you, Guillory, for that.

The dialogue felt a bit stilted in a couple places, and Drew wasn't my favorite, but this book just did so much well. Super enjoyable, kept the pages turning, a bigger cast of characters than just 2-4 people, didn't make me angry... these are all things I like in my romance reads. Four stars, and now The Proposal is solidly on my tbr.
