Oh My God!!! I did not realize how much I needed to read this book!!!! This is the quickest book I have torn through; within 2 days. Usually I need at least a week to finish a book, as I read many simultaneously lol.

I can truly relate to Alexa. There were so many similarities between us from how she reacted to racial confrontations to being a workaholic to HATING to cry.

What I really liked about both Alexa and Drew is that they had amazing friends who were there for them and gave them the most needed advice/support. I developed a love/hate emotion toward Drew and Carlos HAS to be my favoriteπŸ’›πŸ˜‚. I laughed so hard at their bromance. Drew wouldn't want to talk to Carlos, trying to avoid him and actually thought about running him over, and Carlos would kindly remind him that he had a spare key to Drew's apartment so there was no where for him to hide.

Secretly, I was rooting for their love and relationship happy ending. Though I knew there were so many unanswered questions Alexa had but kept brushing off. I did not know how much longer she could hold back and not confront Drew. The longer she waited, the more she would question their relationship (which I did as well, Drew seemed like he wanted to be with Alexa but was afraid of commitment). I was tempted read the ending to save myself from heartache.

I honestly did not believe Drew would come to his senses and admit he truly did love Alexa. ESPECIALLY SINCE HE KEPT F**KING up and made smart, insulting remarks and crude jokes that always came out really hurtful. Let ALONE!!! The fact his relationships only lasted about a month or 2 until he broke them off. So that women wouldn't hate him.

*OMG I LOVE WHEN Drew initially came back to work after first meeting Alexa. He told Carlos he spent the remaining time with her, forgetting he signed up for a golf tournament. Carlos was like "didn't you swear off women before going to the wedding"?! Drew: "shit! I did say that..." typical response always made me laugh out loud. That's one of the many things I loved about his character. How insanely in love his was with Alexa, yet did not want to admit it... especially since ALL of his friends kept teasing him πŸ₯ΊπŸ€πŸ€ (I'm with Drew there. That's the worst thing he needed on top of having growing feelings toward Alexa.) Thank Goodness both Carlos and (shoot...I can't remember the patient's name nor his mother's) the kid's mom gave Drew sound advice how to make up with AlexaπŸ’” I guiltily laughed when Carlos bust Drew out saying not only did he make his patient's cry, the week of their official break-up, but he also made the mom cry🀣...poor thing!! I am so happy he did not hesitate to reconcile with her.

He really needs to thank Carlos for being such a great friend, even when Drew didn't want him around. Carlos was the genuine support and realist that Drew needed in his life. Always talking sense into him and supporting him.

I loved EVERYTHING in this story to how they met in the elevator (Alexa inner thoughts had my crackin up and I enjoyed the honesty). How about the fact she got on the elevator, it got stuck and she was oblivious to the fact another person was in there 🀣 #thatsme. I loved their initial chemistry and was a little disappointed they would depart since I already shipped them togetherπŸ’›πŸ’”

I feel silly for saying this, but The Wedding Date gave me hope. I know you hear and are told that there is someone out there for you. I've heard it so many times I don't believe it anymore. I've even nailed down my favorite response whenever I am told that: "Love is overrated" and that I'm better off without it. I am not even the type of person who is attracted to romance in novels. I completely ignore the genre, as if it does not exist.

It was wholesome and empowering seeing an african american woman not being the "stereotype" that so many like to give us. Even more of a plus she stayed true to herself and refused to lower her standards because of how in love she was with Drew and her inability to say no to his smile.

The ending brought tears (which I hate) to my eyes..well more of the epilogue. Drew truly is one smooth character. Saying Carlos was at the hotel, visiting them in town. (OMG HOW COULD I FORGET!!!! DREW MOVED CLOSER TO BE WITH ALEXA!!!!😭😭😭😭😭)

They were waiting for the elevator, which also happened to be the exact same one they initially met) and Alexa wanted to share a moment with Drew. From his expression, she knew he was not in the mood for it so she brushed it away. UNTIL they got onto the elevator and she noticed it was filled with flowers and had a picnic basket on a blanket awaiting them. I JUMPED WITH JOY as I read on that the elevator moved and stopped (like their initial encounter) and he used this as a way to PROPOSE TO HER!!!!!πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

I am tempted to start the sequel but I know I should hold off after wolfing this down in 2 days. I still have books I started back in January I have yet to finish and feel guilty putting them all aside for this series. I would catch up to the latest one in no time🀣🀣

Thank you Jasmine Guillory. You have no idea how much someone, as myself, needed this book.
