This was super cute and a well balanced romantic comedy. It is a classic meet-cute and then fake dating setup but I was absolutely here for it every step of the way. The characters were likeable and believable, which is not always the case in romantic comedies. I wasn't screaming at them because they refused to talk or did stupid things. It was also refreshing to see a more diverse cast of characters in this book. I think that Guillory did a good job of weaving in a tone of different issues and real life problems without falling back on stereotypical and tired romance tropes. She brought together romance, jobs, family pressure, and the very real need to have conversations about race and social justice issues with your significant other without it feeling like a smack in the face for the plot. I've read a few other of her books and this one is definitely my favorite.
