I’ve often looked for romance books that aren’t totally stupid and where I don’t have to turn off all critical thought to enjoy it. I like that the characters have jobs they care about that actually come up in the book. I like that the author doesn’t pretend that marriages between people of different ethnicities are easy peasy.
I’ve also looked before for lighter fiction/romance that doesn’t include fat shaming (spoiler alert: most of these kind of books do) but this one and her follow-up, The Proposal, both are fat-shame-free and the characters are eat and enjoy their food often rather than a bunch of boring blather about their diets.
It’s also a sexy book! I admittedly found almost everyone attractive for a few days while reading this! ;)
