THE WEDDING DATE checks off all the boxes in what I want from a charming and warm romance book:

A strong female lead who is comfortable in her natural curves
A charming and sexy male lead who appreciates natural beauty
A multiracial couple that discusses their differences
Chemistry – lots of it
Alexa and Drew meet in a stalled elevator at the Fairmount Hotel in San Francisco. They are immediately attracted to each other – the sparks don’t fly just yet… After some flirty banter he divulges he’s in town from Santa Monica for his ex’s wedding. Did I mention his ex is marrying his former best friend and he’s been asked to be a groomsman? So awkward… Drew needs a plus one to get him thru the weekend festivities and Alexa agrees to be his fake girlfriend.

By the end of the weekend Alexa and Drew have had some very hot encounters and can’t keep their hands off each other. They spend the next two months jetting back and forth for weekend visits and the chemistry between the two of them is palpable. The plot is predictable but carried out so well and the ending comes full circle back to the Fairmount elevator all wrapped up in a delightfully sweet package.

Guillory hits all the high notes with this one – it’s modern, fresh and sexy! The writing is fast paced and all consuming – I was utterly entertained and didn’t want it to end.
