The Wedding Date is author Jasmine Guillory's debut novel and it is so, so good! The premise is pediatric surgeon Drew needs a date to his ex-girlfriend's wedding. He gets stuck in an elevator with chief of staff to the mayor Alexa. Drew is definitely interested in Alexa from the start and on a whim, Drew asks Alexa to pose as his "girlfriend" so he can save face at the wedding. Alexa agrees and the two find each other more and more interested in each other as they spend more and more time together. Guillory examines and doesn't shy away from exploring the dynamics of being a mixed race relationship in an honest and realistic way. I truly loved the character of Alexa and this was a sweet and sexy romance that I throughly enjoyed. If you like this book, there are three more books featuring characters introduced in this first novel.
