Fun Rom-Com!
Okay, I enjoyed this quite well as a light, fluffy rom-com book, and I'll look forward to any movie adaptation if it has actors I like in it. Plus, reading the book helped me answer a quiz where this book was one of the answers. Meeting cute in an elevator: ah-ha!, I know that one!
Both our heroes are great people, of course. He's a great person who's a doctor. She's a great person who is a lawyer and works in city government. Only a silly misunderstanding or two stands in the way of their ultimate happiness and lifelong bliss.
The whole thing moves along speedily, especially because it's mostly zippy dialogue.
I didn't think it at all realistic that a doctor would talk breezily about how you have to bend rules about not eating before surgery when you're dealing with kids: No, no, no, that's one of the most important rules in medicine! Ignoring it could kill a patient on the operating table! Even if a doctor or a nurse were to let a kid have a swallow or a gulp of something if a surgery were delayed by a few hours, you would just never, never talk that way about a fundamental rule. I'm not a doctor or in any sort of medical field, but talking that way is basically an impossibility for any hero doctor.
But it's still a fun, enjoyable book.
