The Wedding Date was the first romance book that I had ever read. I had long avoided the genre thinking that it was old-school, would give me characters that were helpless and conservative, and would prioritize sex over good writing. This book completely changed my perspective and opened my eyes to an entire world of books that I had written off... and it speaks to Jasmine Guillory's immersive writing, fascinating and sexy main characters that are well developed, and a fun plot.

Alexa Monroe and Drew Nichols are both career driven, food addicted, hopeless romantics that have a meet-cute in an elevator and leads to the infamous fake relationship. The interracial will they or won't they, HEA storyline is captivating and there is plenty of steamy romance throughout the novel. Their friendships will other characters are a highlight for me, and the way it addresses race makes this contemporary novel feel very relevant. There's plenty of fantasy, featuring many flights between cities and lavish apartments one could only dream of... but that's what makes this impossible to put down. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to dive into the romance area of the bookstore!
