This is Jasmine Guillory's debut novel and she has definitely knocked it out of the (ball) park! Spoiler alert for her second book! Alexa and Drew meet cute while stuck in the elevator at a San Francisco hotel. Drew, an up and coming pediatric surgeon in Los Angeles, is in town for his ex's wedding. He convinces Alexa, the Berkeley mayor's chief of staff, to be his date for the wedding. What starts out as a single fun evening leads to much more. Naturally, there are obstacles such as distance as well as the inevitable personal issues. Love prevails and there is a happy ending! The characters, main as well as supporting, are likable and well developed. Definitely recommend The Wedding Date for fans of contemporary romance!
