The idea behind this story had a lot going for it. Elevator meet cute resulting in a fake date should have been great. But the problem is that all of this occurs in the first quarter of the book. That part was good.
After the wedding, it just becomes a back and forth of a long distance relationship where they don't communicate. It got to the point where I hoped they would not end up together just so it would stop. I found the main character very annoying on top of this. She is supposed to be this confident African American woman with a powerful job. But really she has fake confidence. The author decided to add that she was a strong African American who liked to eat on every single page. It got to be too much. It was a case of telling rather than showing. If I tell the audience she is a strong black woman, than she must be. Overall, I was very disappointed.
