The cover grabbed me first. I liked the Jane Austen-esque silhouettes.
The writing is definitely what I would call “brain candy” as it’s not a particularly image-heavy, deep-themed book. But one of the best parts of brain candy books is that they are entertaining! And I was most definitely entertained by first the meet-cute between Alexa and Drew (though slightly bewildered by the apparent cheese obsession), and I’m sure I would be entertained following their story to its (more than likely predictable) conclusion.
These types of books are best for those cozy weekend reads when you just want to relax and not focus too hard on what you’re reading. For me it’s literature therapy—I escape briefly to a world of romance and happy endings. Definitely worth it!
