What a treat (or more appropriately, warm doughnut!) of a book. Alexa finds herself stuck in an elevator with Drew and they hit it off. After spending the weekend as Drew’s date to his ex’s wedding, Alexa doesn’t think she’ll see him again. Despite the fact that they live on opposite ends of the state, the duo finds time to see each other on weekends and their relationship grows deeper. I don’t want to spoil any more than that - if you enjoy a lighter, romantic read then this is the book for you!
The story weaves in its other themes rather smoothly - racial differences, occupations, accomplishments, and friendships which add depth to the characters and diversity not often seen in this genre (yet - I’m glad that that’s changing).
This is an enjoyable debut. I hope to be reading more books by this author soon!
