This book sticks with you because I read it over a year ago but forgot to post a review in a timely manner. (Sorry!) Because I liked it so much as it was an engrossing read, I passed it on to a friend who appreciated reading it for reasons different from mine. We had an excellent conversation on the fascination people like us have with cults, awareness and introspection of cult members about their life, how one like Daniel gains and continues power and influence over others and how the selective reading of religious texts is used for control and power. In particular, my friend who has a Masters degree in theology, schooled me on the Biblical references and usage, accurate and perverted from it meaning originally. The power of a book is to be memorable and raise conversation and learning which I realize now months later is true. It’s a title I’m going to put on my reread in the future list.
