This is a great debut novel. I was captivated from the first page. This book is about a cult. ( my first cult read). This is about a young girl, Miriam who is 16 and has live in "New Jerusalem" all her life and taught that women have no voice and no choices. The day of matrimony in New Jerusalem has come and Miriam is ready to be Caleb's husband. Despite boys and girls being separated since children, Miriam is sure that Caleb will select her to be his wife. However, things didn't turn out as she thought. This is when Miriam decides to question everything she has ever learned from the leader, Daniel.
