First of all, thank you to Penguin Teen for sending me a finished copy early in exchange for promotion!

The Great Waves hit and flooded the earth. Everyone lives on Reefs of strung-together pieces of the Old World. Everyone except Palindromena, the nearby island with the facility that has the ability to bring back the dead for 24 hours for one final goodbye.

Tempest is an orphan. Her parents died in an accident, and it's been two years since her sister drowned in a dive. Saving up for the last two years while still living in her space on the Equinox, she finds a plant in a dive worth more than enough money to revive her sister, Elysea. Because before she died, Elysea knew something about their parents' deaths.

Lor is hiding in the Aquarium where all the bodies float. His friend, Ray, is a Warden-in-training. Wardens are there to support the family and patient in the revival process. Ray needs to skip his next revival in order to see a doctor about his ongoing foot injury. Lor agrees, but when he meets Tempest, he knows something is not as it should be, and the girl isn't here for a routine goodbye.

Vanishing Deep was such a surprise to me. I haven't heard nearly enough people talking about this book, but the writing, the world building, the imagery, and the character depth are pulled together to create one of my favorite books I've read so far in 2020! It's been on my radar for a few months, and I'm so happy I was finally able to pick it up. Do not miss this one!
