The Vanishing Deep by Astrid Scholte is a beautifully written exploration of love, loss, and grieving. Tempe is barely keeping her head above water after losing her sister and is in search of answers to help heal her grieving heart. I thought the commentary and exploration of how grief can cripple you was extremely well done. I could feel Tempe's angst without it being thrown in my face. I enjoyed the twists and turns and the pacing of the story was just right to keep me turning the pages. Though I often shy away from fantasy, the fantastical elements here were accessible and easy to comprehend. I love books about sisters and really enjoyed learning more about Tempe and Elysea's relationship. I definitely recommend this book!
