"Nothing ruined life more than regret."

The.Vanishing Deep is a standalone novel by Astrid Scholte, author of the bestselling Four Dead Queens. Taking place in a dystopian world, most people are living on boats or floating reefs due a great wave causing the oceans to have risen far above the civilization we know today. Scholte has done an excellent job with the world building, pulling the reader into a descriptive and fairly credible future.

Alternating narrators between wreckage diver, Tempest, and Lor, one of the few people who still live on stable land, the first person POV makes these characters feel believable to the reader. Tempest has come up with the money needed to revive her dead sister for 24 hours, in an effort to try to find out what happened to their deceased parents.
