This book was an enthralling tale of family, grief, and love. It wasn't what I was expecting at all, but I did enjoy it up until the end.

To me, the end just got a bit far fetched. I get that this is sci-fi/fantasy/whatever you want to call it, but it just got to be a bit much. I can't say much more about the ending without spoiling anything, but it really wasn't my favorite. I was hoping for a They Both Die at the End esque ending, something perfectly tragic and heartbreaking. Instead, I was just happy that this was over.

Like a lot of other readers, I absolutely loved the concept of this. It was a totally new type of world for me, which was super exciting. However, the concept got old fast. Like I said, the world broke some of the rules it had set up earlier. There's also a ton of gaps, like how they grow their crops, and how they even live. So many of the specifics are simply glossed over, which left a lot of holes.

I was sooo disappointed by the direction this ended up going, because I really liked the characters. There was such a strong potential for a heartbreaking romance, and a tear jerking sacrifice. Instead we got something predictable and unfulfilling. I liked Tempe and Lor as characters, but I didn't really like Elysea, which made this a bit hard to enjoy.

I think this book was just not my cup of tea. I can totally see why people love it, it just wasn't my type of book, or my type of characters.
