After a really promising start, I found my interest dwindling after the opening chapter. I think it's just a personal thing. Both main characters have lost someone and their struggle just felt a little too cut/dry to me, one girl dealing with her sister's death and the guy some guilt for having contributed to his own best friend's death (an accident). While both are incredibly sad, I would have loved to see more complex motivations for what these characters are doing and maybe a bit more about the world too. And when I can't connect with characters, I can't connect with the story either.
That said I think this will certainly resonate with other readers, and the writing is very good. If this kind of plot is up your alley definitely give it a chance.
