This is a story about one family, who I imagine any family or person who grew up during the 70's and the Vietnam wade could not only relate to, but see some part of themselves or their family in this story. I cannot do justice to how well written this book was. It was historical fiction, thriller, murder mystery, and a heart wrenching emotional story all at once. One would think a book e compassing so many genres would feel disjointed and confusing but not for one second did and if the story feel as if it didn't fit perfectly. I have not read his books before this, and I now cannot wait to get my hands on his previous titles. Every character was lovable and dislikable, making them real and believable. This is a book that will stay with you long after you finish it, almost hauntingly but more than worth it. I truly can't say enough good things, excellent character development for both the minor and major characters, fast pace writing that somehow was able to also remain beautifully written at the same time. There were several different story lines happening and changing narrators, but never once did it feel disjointed or confusing. I feel truly privileged I was given the opportunity to read this book and there is not a person I wouldn't recommend read this book. Everyone should read this book!
